Phase Field Characterization of Rock Fractures in Brazilian Splitting Test Specimens Containing Voids and Inclusions

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Brazilian splitting test is a broadly adopted testing procedure for characterizing the tensile strength of natural rock or rock-like material. However, results on specimens with naturally existing voids and inclusions are strongly influenced by size effects boundary conditions, numerical modeling can assist in explaining understanding mechanisms. On other hand, potential utilizing to characterize inhomogeneous deformation samples dissimilar materials still awaits exploration. In present study, fracture mechanisms disks circular filled studied using phase field model (PFM). finite element method implement PFM study influence diameter, eccentricity, quantity patterns stress-strain curves. simulations reproduce previous experimental phenomena furthermore it deepens pattern, overall strength, behavior rock. findings highlight through combining tests modeling.

Numerical Modelling of the Wedge Splitting Test in Rock Specimens, Using Fracture-based Zero-thickness Interface Elements

Abstract. The purpose of the Wedge Splitting Test (WST) is to generate stable mode I fracture crack along a pre-established path, and be able to measure the specific fracture energy parameter of the material GF. The test is performed on standard cylindrical notched specimens. In order to make decision on the optimal notch geometry for a specific rock test, a number of WST experiments were simul...

Geochemical Characterization of Kazhdumi Source Rock in the Khaviz Oil Field, Southwest of Iran, Using Rock-Eval Pyrolysis

The Khaviz oil field located in Dezful embayment is one of Iran’s southwest oil fields. In this study, a total of 28 cutting samples from Kazhdumi formation (well No. KZ1, Khaviz oil field) were subject to geochemical investigation using Rock-Eval pyrolysis for the first time. The results of pyrolysis indicated that Kazhdumi source rock has significant hydrocarbon production potentiality and al...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
